There are lots of private breeders around the US. The problem is many I Traded Up From A Six Pack To A Full Fledged Barrel Shirt people don’t know how to care for them properly so they can come ill or impacted, so it is important to do some research on breeder options before purchasing. My two grown adults were rescues. Someone had posted them on Craigslist saying their brother left them and moved away and they wanted them gone. They are amazing with regeneration and healing though so didn’t take too long to get them happy and healthy. Every year I forget the ‘try sunflowers this year’ reminder. Then I hate myself after seeing pics like this. We got a large harvest last year and did the same, they’re way better than store-bought! Just watch out for wildlife, birds, and squirrels will use them as a feeder! The tallest one above my head is an American giant, I’m not positive on the others. I’m jealous, mine is only about 2.5 feet tall, I might have planted them too early.

My sunflowers were just destroyed by a hailstorm. This was the I Traded Up From A Six Pack To A Full Fledged Barrel Shirt first year I planted them and they were growing so beautifully. I’m so jealous. They look amazing and you look so happy! Great job. That’s awesome! The one above my head was 1 out of six that made it which is a variety that supposed to get 14-16 feet. I hope it gets a couple more feet, but still amazing. Hope we get some as big and beautiful as those. Would love to start a sunflower forest in my backyard someday. I’m in Saint Augustine, Florida. (zone 9) I planted seeds in pots in mid-April I believe, then transplanted to the yard once they were about 1 1/2-2 feet tall. Amazing. I’m up in NYC and dream of getting one up that tall. The growing season isn’t long enough. It must just be my luck, but my yard had spiders all over it. No way could I have stood amongst my plants like OP is. At the very least I’d walk into webs, at worst I’d have spider(s) crawling on me. I never did yard work without wearing long-sleeved shirts, jeans, gloves, and a hat.

I’ve always wanted big sunflowers (one of my favorite flowers) but storms I Traded Up From A Six Pack To A Full Fledged Barrel Shirt always seem to break them before they can get to their full height, any tricks to keeping them upright? I had these guys supported with stakes until they got put into the ground at about 1 1/2 feet tall. Once in the ground, I put up a small piece of chicken wire around the base in case they needed something to lean on. Once they got to be 2/3ish feet the stalks were pretty sturdy! Are they strong enough to stand up alone or do they have to be braced somehow? They are beautiful. They are standing up without added support so far. Those babies are beasts. I grew some this year and felt the need to take pics and post them on Fb, and since I’ve noticed people posting the same all over. I had one sunflower grow this year. So far it’s about two and a half feet tall. I hope it turns out as amazing as yours.
