Agreed! I don’t want police to be the responders to wellness calls, for example. My position in Funny John Lewis Resist Shirt education has required me to make such calls (a subset of what you’re talking about), and I don’t want armed individuals to be making those calls. Wellness checks are an important part of my job as an educator at the university level, but I shudder to imagine what happens when police are those that answer the call. In my naive days, I went with the flow, but I can’t imagine putting a vulnerable person through that trauma again, but I care desperately about my students that need that level of help.
