The man was shirtless and in shorts, unarmed. Police outside the US seem better trained than those in the US. I’ve seen a drunk man scream in the face of officers in Japan, attempting to move the officer with his puffed-up chest. The officer took several steps back and gave the man plenty of space. The officer’s sidearm was holstered through all this, and the officer’s partner was nearby and equally calm.

The man eventually calmed down, and that sat him down and talked with him before seating him in their cruiser.
